Class Agent elections for your Class are just around the corner, and the Aggie Network needs you! If you are interested in running as an INDIVIDUAL Class Agent candidate, and serving as part of a of 5 member Class Agent team for the Class of 2026, here’s what you need to know:

What is a Class Agent? 

Each organized Class of former students has a team of elected Class Agents who serve as liaisons between their Class and The Association of Former Students. Class Agents are first elected during the student body elections of their junior year and serve an initial term of 6 years. 

During their senior year, Class Agents represent their Class to The Association, work in conjunction with Senior Class President to develop and fund a Class gift, and facilitate communication between and among their Classmates and the Aggie Network. Following graduation, Class Agents are a fundamental part of maintaining communication among Classmates and helping to ensure that they stay connected to Texas A&M and The Association of Former Students. 

Class Agents work closely with departments within The Association—including Campus Programs, Former Student Programs, and Fundraising—to strengthen the Aggie Network, to promote the Aggie Spirit and the welfare of Texas A&M University, and to raise friends and funds to benefit the university and its current and former students. Each Class Agent representative serves as a member of the Leadership Council (tx.ag/LeadershipCouncil), which is the governing body of The Association of Former Students. Each Class is entitled to one collective vote as part of their role on the Leadership Council. Calendar for Class Agent election process:

December 18: 

• Application to become a 2026 Class Agent officially open. 

January 17: 

• Submit the complete Class Agent application by midnight on January 17. 
• After applications are closed, The Association of Former Students will review the submitted applications and send out a notification to Class Agent applicants to let them know if they have been selected to continue to the interview round of the process.  

January 22-29: 

• The Association of Former Students schedules and holds Class Agent pre-election candidate interviews with applicants.

February 3: 

• List of approved Class Agent candidates announced by The Association of Former Students.

February 3 - 14 (Information available at election.tamu.edu) 

• Filing for Candidates: The Association will file election information for each individual approved Class Agent candidate with the Election Commission. The Association will file for all eligible Class Agent candidates.

• Mandatory Candidate Meeting held by the Election Commission Time & Date TBD (election.tamu.edu), where candidates will receive additional election information. The Election Commission will send out information on this meeting and Class Agent candidates must attend this meeting to be eligible for election.

•  Top 5 vote-receiving candidates will be named to the Class of 2026 Class Agent team. Election results are  announced no earlier than 7 p.m. (time and location available at election.tamu.edu). 

*These dates are typically announced by the Election Commission prior to the beginning of the Spring semester.
 

Requirements / Rules for Running: 

All candidates must have at least a 2.0 overall GPA and be in good standing with the university. Each Class Agent will run for election as an INDIVIDUAL candidate but will serve as part of a 5 member Class Agent Team. Each individual running for Class Agent must participate in two events prior to beginning the election process in order to be eligible: 

• Class Agent Pre-Election Candidate Interviews held at the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center on January 22-29, at a meeting time scheduled directly with The Association staff contacts. 
• A Mandatory Candidate Meeting held by the Election Commission will be held with time, date & location to be announced at election.tamu.edu where you will also receive additional election information. If you have specific questions for the Election Commission you may address them during the Mandatory Candidates Meeting. Class Agent candidates can also access election information at election.tamu.edu or by contacting the Election Commissioner at tamuelection@gmail.com. 
• The Association will pay the filing fees for each Class Agent candidate if the above criteria are met. Each individual Class Agent must review the Volunteer Expectations Policy of The Association of Former Students. Once elected, Class Agents must maintain donor status with The Association at “Active level” or above (see tx.ag/GivingLevels) to continue to serve as Class Agents and as members of The Association’s Leadership Council. 
• Once elected, Class Agents will meet and serve with The Association of Former Students for 3-7 hours roughly every month (during the academic semester) throughout the remainder of their Junior year, and throughout their Senior year as they prepare for their Class’ transition to former students.

The Association of Former Students   

Each year, The Association of Former Students’ 12 Under 12 award, recognizes 12 former students who graduated no more than 12 years ago for their outstanding accomplishments in business, civic service and philanthropy, and for representing Texas A&M’s core values of excellence, integrity, leadership, loyalty, respect and selfless service.  

Those that graduated in the last 12 years (2013-2024) qualify for consideration of this award. You can nominate yourself or, if you know a deserving young Aggie, consider submitting a nomination on their behalf. 

Previous year honorees have included leaders in business and higher education, architects, petroleum engineers, non-profit executives, physicians and veterans and members of the U.S. armed forces. 

2025 nominations close Friday, Feb. 28, so be sure to submit a nomination soon.

Criteria:

• Must have graduated within the past 12 years (2013-2024) from Texas A&M University (College Station, Galveston, Qatar, Law School or Health Science Center campuses). If applicant has multiple Class years due to multiple degrees, the first Class year will be used to qualify.
• Must complete the online nomination form. Please note your Aggie ID from your AggieNetwork.com profile: you will need it to complete your nomination. If you are submitting a nomination on someone else's behalf, and you don't know their Aggie ID please contact Lynnzia Mitchell '23 (LMitchell23@AggieNetwork.com). 
• Must submit a resume, or LinkedIn profile, and two letters of recommendation.
• Must agree to be included in print and digital media coverage of the awards.

Tips for Submitting a Nomination:

• Explain military lingo, jargon and acronyms. Not every member of the selection committee will have military experience.
• Write out industry acronyms and avoid industry-specific jargon.
• Be prepared to explain both professional and philanthropic accomplishments. Where appropriate, include links to supporting materials such as news articles.
• Be prepared to explain how the nominee's accomplishments relate to Texas A&M's core values.

Selections:
Honorees of the 12 Under 12 award will be determined by an appointed selection committee, which may be comprised of past honorees, members of The Association's Leadership Council and campus representatives. Selected honorees will be notified in summer 2025 and will be recognized at Fall Leadership Council.
